Just to let you know I’ve just had my 80th birthday, wow. I can’t do all the exercise I used to/would like to because of physical restrictions but I haven’t given up. I do stretch/strength exercises three times a week and on the alternate days I walk for 15-20 minutes One thing that stood out about my 80th birthday, I lost count of the number of people who said, “You can’t be 80!” I still find your articles encouraging, though much of it is aimed at younger people it just gives me impetus to keep going.
On the fitness side, Dave is about the fittest guy I've ever met and his enthusiasm for health and well-being permeates his life. His book is the perfect present for anyone as it's humorous, succinct, and full of wisdom you can apply every day to help you live all the days of your life. We gave Dave's book to many of our key clients last Christmas and received many e-mails and phone calls full of praise. Thanks Dave!"
Just want to say a HUGE thank you for the inspiration to keep going..and going ..and going… On the 21st June I lost a measly 200 grams which, I let get to me, so went into an eating frenzy ☹ . I then put on 800 grams 28th OH NO!!!! that was me still exercising!! Then your newsletter/email came in re brown fat v’s white fat. It helped me get back into the healthy foods and exercised like a crazy granny and lost 1.7kg 5/7th and feel fantastic. So now when I stand on the scales I won’t be tempted to eat JUNK if I have not lost, I will RE read your email. Up to date I have lost 15.6kg Thanks for the boost ☺ onwards and forwards to my next goal to loose 15.7kg.
With a calm and positive manner David encouraged me to re establish a routine to enable a work/life balance. He challenged me to focus on my goals and showed me a pathway that would allow me to achieve success. David is a caring, experienced and professional mentor that I would recommend to all women as they strive to achieve personal and professional success.
When I first met with David I was struggling with fatigue. I was overweight, had lost a lot of my fitness and was really finding it hard to focus on work. As a result, both my business and family life were suffering. David gave me some straightforward, practical steps to get my health and fitness back on track. As someone who has been involved in business and has a family he knew how to help me incorporate exercise and relaxation into my already busy schedule. Checking in with David on a regular basis kept me on track and focused on what was really important. My business is growing, my fitness is back to where I want it to be and my health is better than it has been in years. I sleep better, am able to focus better and am much happier than I was. My wife even changed her exercise and diet, has lost weight and looks great.
I have really enjoyed the sessions and I am slowly incorporating them into my daily life. Unfortunately, I have been very inconsistent with the homework, but do feel my balance has improved. I definitely feel more toned, but haven't seen much change on the scales. I have made small changes to my diet so hopefully I will be a little trimmer by Christmas! I'm not letting go of these exercises though- they're just what I needed. It's just been really nice getting to meet and work with you. You're lovely! Thanks for helping make a breakthrough for myself. Much appreciated.
Leon is 66 years old and has type 2 diabetes. When Leon first started working with Shirl he was unable to tie his shoelaces without sitting down, he couldn’t play a game of golf without using a cart and he was on considerable diabetes medication. Leon started by attending 1:1 sessions with Shirl through a Medicare Extended Primary Care plan. He then began group classes through a diabetes plan and is currently attending private group classes once a week. Shirl has also set up a home exercise program to keep up to date with his goals and continue the changes he has already made thus far. Leon is now able to walk up 3 flights of stairs easily without getting breathless, can walk to visit his grandchildren and has been able to eliminate his diabetes insulin medication. Not only that Leon has lost an amazing 26.5kgs and reduced his waist size from 107 to 102. Leon has successfully achieved the goals he had set out for himself and has continued on, with the help of Shirl, managing his diabetes to maintain a healthier and pain free lifestyle.
David Beard’s presentation at the 2005 IAAA conference in Perth was the perfect start to a long day in the conference room. The interactive nature of David’s presentation not only captured and held the delegates attention, but also invigorated the audience for the following presentations. One of the highlights of the conference.
I recently subscribed to your newsletter and have found it extremely useful. Since receiving these letters I have started doing more weights. I've lost 10kgs! I was one of those people who tried to do all sorts of aerobic exercise but it didn't work. The weights have done the trick though. Thank you very much!
David Beard was the Keynote speaker at Council on the Ageing’s Stay on your feet week seminar 2008. His informative talk on active ageing strategies was a hit with our audience. Feedback from our participants rated him as ‘Excellent’ and we look forward to David presenting with us in the future. His message is well delivered and even better received. All the hallmarks of an excellent presentation.
I have had the pleasure of being part of an audience which was addressed by David Beard. David manages to entertain, educate and enthrall his audience all at once. His interest in his subject matter was obvious, his knowledge was thorough and his delivery was masterful. All in all a conference highlight!!!!
I have experienced 3 presentations from David Beard, ranging from 20 people to over 200 people. I highly recommend David and look forward to the next time I experience one of his presentations.
David Beard was invited to speak at our annual staff conference where we bring everyone together to inspire, generate new ideas and foster team spirit. Having spent the afternoon prior discussing and brainstorming ways to improve occupational health and safety, his talk that night was an excellent fit to the program. David spoke about what we can do now, to improve our quality of life in our later years in an amusing and insightful manner. Lots of practical tips to strengthen your muscles (and your resolve) wherever you are; eating tips, drinking, sleeping and exercising tips. David inspired and challenged us all to make healthy lifestyle choices.
